  8. Check the mould number on the bottle that the cork came out. Are they all the same number? Check the inside diameter of the mouth of those bottle. Are they the same as the other mould numbers? Use an electronic caliper if you can. Are all the T-Top Corks the same size in the box they in? At one time, we had a batch of bottle that had the number x bottle mould number with half a millimeter above tolerence and we had the same issue. We also T-Top with wide variation in the same lot that also caused problem in another situation. I hope this will help some. Cheers,

  10. We started offering our empty 750mL spirit bottles in 12 packs as we do for our wine bottles but craft distillers asked for 6 packs. I was told, distributors requested 6 packs. So, we switched most of our spirit bottles into 6 packs.
  11. It doesn't work that way, gentlemen. The main reason is the size of the furnace and machine (single, double, triple or more gob and number of sections receiving those gobs), moulds change over and wear of preform moulds and parts versus finish moulds for proprietary moulds for its life expectancy which determines the cost of bottles and viability of projects. Keep in mind that the glass is boiling 24hrs a day, 365 days. Furnace will stop to be rebuilt every 7 to 11 years. most furnaces run using fossil fuel, making it very costly to stop a machine to change over moulds for small production runs while the furnace is running but no bottles are being moulded. Ex: Single gob machine, minimum run for a 750mL of 30,000 bottles weighing 500 grams in green or standard clear not extra clear = Between $12,000 & $20,000 for the complete mould sets and parts, and about $0.80 per bottle FOB Montreal, Los Angeles, Miami. Yes, there's a company in Mexico making those 10,000 bottle runs on smaller semi-automatic machine which is old technology but does the work. They do have the same restriction with moulds and parts. I can provide more detailed info over the phone or answer your emails to why it is not that simple and/or make an offer.

  14. Frank, I sell new bottles and wash bottles for a living but I use to sell cleaning and sanitizing chemicals for the beverage industry. The best way that I can answer that question for everyone is simply by asking you a question '' do you wash new dishes when they come out of the box before using them for the first time?'' There are many good answers; You may dust it off and use it, Rince it with clear water, Wash it with soap, Sanitize it. As a bottle distributor, I highly recommend to blow air or rinse bottles before filling. If you receive your bottles in bulk, layers of bottles are separated by carton tear sheet which may leave particles of cartons in the bottles. If you receive prepacked, they most probably have been handled by hand (our employees wear surgical gloves to handle the bottles) and placed in the cardboard box, which is then stacked on top of others, creating a lot of motion which can leave carton particles in the bottles as well. I hope this can help in your decision, Cheers!
