Lassiter Distilling Co
Hey guys, Anyone have experience with a hazy stripping run resulting from an 8.5% ABV fermentation of molasses and sugar? Thoughts on why it might be cloudy if the wash was racked off the sediment at the bottom? Could it just be the tails mixing in and clouding the rest with the rum oils? ebstauffer
>> Puking What he said. I regularly get a bit of cloudiness at the end of the tail but never (save for puking) in the early part of the run.
Silk City Distillers
Try adding some silicone antifoam on your next strip, or potentially dial back the power. Are you running a visually-closed system?
Skaalvenn
In stripping I'll get a little cloud from the deep tails, but not all the way. In the spirit run I don't get cloudy spirit until I hit those deep tails, and it's where I stop collecting.
BWFiggins
Use a foam inhibitor of any kind, watch your heat and practice, practice, practice. Be diligent, and strain every nerve to be the very best at your new craft!
SpiritedConsultant
It could also be caused by residue from previous runs.
