Napa Valley Distillery
Does anyone have or know of a list of states that allows distilled spirits tastings and/or direct to consumer sales? For instance, Oregon is one of those states that does allow. Anyone know of any more states like Oregon? Thanks,
bluestar
Don't know of a list. Michigan and Illinois allow for craft distilleries.
Jonathan Forester
New York, but only with the class d farm permit. not with the other permits. (possibly with the brandy permit, not sure on that one.)
Michaelangelo
Bluestar, Does Illinois or Michigan allow for tastings and direct sales to consumers from an off-site (away from the actual production) storefront? I just saw Galena Cellars and they have several retail locations where they do tastings and sales of bottles of wine direct to the consumer. bluestar
Illinois allows on site only. Michigan allows craft distillers most of what it allows small wineries, which includes remote tasting sites.
tipk99
WA state has a craft distillery license that allows for on-site tastings (2oz per person, 1/2 oz at a time) and direct sales (3L per person per day limit) but has other restrictions... they also have a standard distillery license that allows direct sales but no tastings... with fewer restrictions. Hewnspirits
Pennsylvania's limited distillery license is similar to Maine's....We can have tasting and sales at the distillery and we can also have two satellite retail locations.
Palmetto Coast
South Carolina allows onsite sales (three 750ml/person/day) and tastings (three 1/2 oz tastes per person).
Rum
As of July 1st, 2013, Florida allows limited sales through a "gift shop" located at the distillery. We are only allowed to sell two containers per year per person. Not sure of what information the state is going to require us to track to verify that someone doesn't buy more than two per year yet.
