MaskCraft Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 We are about to empty our last 53 gallon bourbon barrel on a rack and have had breweries, cideries ask about purchasing them from us. Can anyone share as to what the resale value usually is? Thank you!
Hudson bay distillers Posted June 6, 2018 Posted June 6, 2018 we just paid 325 for once dumped 53 gallon barrels
HedgeBird Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 18 hours ago, Hudson bay distillers said: we just paid 325 for once dumped 53 gallon barrels I typically sell once used barrels for $200, multiple use barrels for $150 and barrels that are no longer really usable (for holding liquid at least) for $100. It blows my mind that folks are paying/charging more for used barrels than what a new one actually costs ($250), but apparently the demand for used barrels supports it and most breweries dont know what a barrel costs these days. 1
JustAndy Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Yes, it's around here in Portland I see $75-$150 for single use 53 gal ex-bourbon depending on condition and how many you're buying.
FaintingGoatSpirits Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 $325? Wow. We sell our once used barrels to breweries in our area for $200
Hudson bay distillers Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 bear in mind thats 325 canadian dollars so with 30 percent exchange plus ridiculous shipping costs we can pretty much bank on double the price of anything we buy outta the US .
bluestar Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 $140 for single use 53g whiskey to a collaborative brewery. Retail might be higher.
ThatDrunkenBird Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I pick up used whiskey barrels (53gal) and used wine barrels (59-70gal) for $100 to $125 here in Virginia.
cestrin Posted June 22, 2018 Posted June 22, 2018 We sell used 20 gallon barrels for $150 and 15 gallon barrels for $125 around Phoenix and people happily pay it. Anything with 'bourbon-barrel aged' in front of it sells for a premium right now.
