  1. just figued I'd let you all know our new website is up. lots of good pics of our equipment, we'll be getting some specific info and pics of our series 1 series 2, and continuous systems soon. www.artisanstilldesign.com
  2. yes they often times even cant be bothered to photoshop out the company's badge either.
  3. to correct your statement, no this is not made by our factory. there are any number of factories who will claim to make our equipment on Alibaba, but none do. Our Factory does not advertise on Alibaba because we do not advertise on Alibaba. there are many rip offs of our designs, and some on these forums have purchased them, and they can tell you the horror stories of trying to get them running, as they are built by companies trying to replicate external appearances with NO understanding of how these systems work. Once I was worried about these rip off companies riding our coat tails, but not any more. It may sound smug, but It is clear to anyone paying attention these copy cats are nothing like ours.
  4. yes cooling is key, too many get up and going without thought or budget for cooling.
  5. it is possible to achieve 95% on a 6 plate column, however it will take at minimum 3 passes, or 2 with a very slow spirit run but it will be chocked full of flavor, not ideal for vodka. in order to call it vodka you must achieve a average of 95% in your collected spirits, this is then diluted down for bottling, coming off the parrot at 50% will not qualify. realistically in order to produce Vodka you will want 20 plates or more. with such a system you can achieve 95% in a single pass, however you will still be more efficient doing a seperate strip to low wines then spirit run to achieve your 95%.
  6. I could build you a fully copper still, but it would be a month or two outside that time frame. we have a 60 gallon still on display that is all copper, but that would be way too small for you.
  7. you definitely need to be more anal about cleaning, and there is always a chance of copper salts in your final product. however most people do not have any adverse reaction to minute amounts of copper in alcohol, there are some that have a sensitivity to it though. stainless condensers are just easier to clean.
  8. I believe this is still available, its a very good price and one can get a jump start into the industry over night almost.
  9. resubmit it with no changes, you might catch someone different, or the same guy in a better mood.
  10. Caustic followed by an appropriate acid. if you do a mild passivisation after every run, you'll never need to worry about it. Hot PBW, wash with clean water then Acid #5. its mild enough to do after every run. and simple enough to be part of your regular cleaning schedule. its not necessary to do after every run, but the extra care does show in how clean your equipment is, and how easy it is to clean. if you passivate only every couple months, you will want a stronger caustic and Nitric Acid.
  11. 15 hp unit would be ideal to fire both at once. mash tun is an open top unit. I have to point out how immaculate this still is, it is fully cleaned, sterilized and passivated after every run.
  12. last issue of Artisan Distiller did a pieces on this issue. spend some time check it out. Steve
  13. as long as you trust your supplier, air is easiest. pull a few bottles and double check before filling, buying by the pallet is helpful.
