  1. So a bit off topic. We have been doing a on grain bourbon mash. The first few had a big fat grain cap on it. The last few have fermented just fine but not developed the cap. Any ideas why this would be?
  2. Only things dont like is they only hold a small roll of tables like maybe a few hundred I had to build a rig to hold the lables up higher so I could fit a larger roll on and the counter only goes to 999 you would think it would be pretty easy to add another number on there so you can actually count how many bottles you do a day. But that said I love mine and would buy another.
  3. whoa your going to tell the hell out of this!!!
  4. They just pushed out a brand new website so im thinking they are still in business but dont know for sure
  5. It has a dip tube that is fully submerged at least a couple feet. If I have both drain valves closed and open them each just a crack I dont get the suck from column one to column 2. but if I open both It will suck the liquid out of the bottom of the short column one and into the bottom of column two.
  6. Hi I have a question. When im running my two column still 4 plates on the first and 16 on the second column. It seems like the second column is crating a vacuum and not letting the reflux drain back into the still. Has anyone seen this?
  7. Just wondering where everyone thermometers are on their mash tuns. Ours is on the outside edge so they will be out of the way of the rake but it seems like our temp is not super accurate due to being close to the jacket. So wondering where everyone else has their thermometers?
  8. Yeah this is what we see as well. Have never heard that the cap is causing yeast to die due to C02 build up.
  9. I just got an order from them last month.
  10. Yes thanks for clarifying, You where referring to the dimensions posted. (im assuming) and not the one Paul made correct?
  11. What do you mean to much gap between inner and outer?
  12. Um go to the local building authority and ask them if you can have a distillery at that location. That should pretty much answer your question on if its ok
  13. You should post a pic of your set up so we can see how / where it might fit in
  14. Think Oregon and Utah have closures as well
  15. so 85-90 gallons at 110 proof? Do you go into the barrel that low of proof?
  16. So out of a 750 gallon run you end up with about 85-90 gallons to put into a barrel at around 122 proof?
  17. So just another question to add to this topic. While still trying to stay mostly on topic. Yield? If you do say 900 gallons of 10% wash and you do it in two stripping runs at 450 gallons each then a final polishing run what sort of final yield (gallons) at 125 proof would you estimate? And do you think (or have you found) that this final yield changes if your doing to single 450 runs? I know tons of variables but just overall thoughts.
  18. Beeswax was what I was thinking. I have used a flower paste as well but wanted another option
  19. Not sue where to put this but figured here is good enough. Im re working some barrels and am wondering what wax you would use on them to help with small leaks
  20. I think he Is meaning more along the line of a traditional pot still. With no plates. Id say no but that's just me.. Even though a very prominent vodka brand form Texas says they do it..
  21. White out on your monitor works but its has other side effects.....
  22. It all depends on your local authorities. I know multiple distillery's that are F1 with barrel storage as well as over 270 of spirit. Its hard to argue with them so be nice and work with them.
