  3. geekspirits method is definitely the easiest way ive found to do it and also the least messy
  4. we filter around 120 proof
  5. Ive run a steam driven 100 gallon Muller doing rum. managed to strip 300 gallons of wash doing 3 stripping runs and squeeze in a spirit run in just under 12 hours. The still had a 6 plate 16 inch column. It is possible to do 4 runs in a day but it makes for a long day

  7. Mrs Griffo, when you find out a definitive answer can you please share it with us. Im in california and would love to hear ABCs opinion on this matter

  9. what kind of spirit are you trying to produce?
  10. yes we are using our flex impeller but only if the low wines are under 100 proof. if over 100 proof we use air diaphram pump
  11. John, Do you have any contacts in the bunker fuel market that you could connect me with? Also how much heads are you selling to them at one time? Im sitting on 600 gallons of heads and would love to offload it
  12. With good equipment and a team of 8 hardworking people we are able to bottle 500 cases in roughly 6ish hours.
  13. We use a flex impeller pump similar to this https://store.tcwequipment.com/products/jabsco-sqn-50-flexible-impeller-pump
  14. love this idea as well. Do you treat the heads with anything before burning them in the fireplace? Or do the heads come straight off the still and into a bottle to burn in this fireplace?
  15. anyone out there with a large still 200+ gallons who are reusing their cooling water? Ive seen cooling water reused on a small scale but is anyone one on the bigger side reusing it? if so can you describe your system for reuse?
  16. we use glide tech distillery hose. It is pretty pricey per foot, but it is damn durable and works well for everything
  17. hey dehner, i am interested to hear how 50ml have worked out for you. if have have the time please elaborate how they have worked and maybe a bit of your strategy that made them work
  18. it depends on the booze. typically our whiskeys only fill the tank half way= equals lots of head space, our blending tank is half full. Our vodka fills the tank much fuller= less head space. Regardless ethanol fumes are heavier than air, thus unless a tank is seeing lots of air circulation it will not evaporate too much booze
  19. Has anyone heard of or worked with these guys equipment? Id love to hear some opinions on it. http://enewschannels.com/2015/04/02/enc44466_125127.php/twenty-years-six-days-future-aged-spirits-unveiled-american-distilling-institute-conference/
  20. Hi Zach welcome to our community, best of luck with your endeavor
  21. Neutral Brandy Any type of brandy, e.g., “Fruit Brandy,” “Residue Brandy,” etc., distilled at more than 85% alcohol by volume (170 proof) but less than 95% alcohol by volume (190 proof) “Neutral Brandy” is grape neutral brandy. Other types of neutral brandy must be further identified, e.g., “Neutral Plum Brandy,” “Neutral Citrus Residue Brandy” Taken from the BAM, now granted the BAM is only a set of guidelines and interpret them as you'd like to. Grape brandy must be stored in oak containers for a minimum of 2 years one other thing to consider is that to call it Brandy and not Immature brandy it must be stored in oak for two years
  22. what state are you in? does your building have sprinklers? In CA there is a very low limit for how much high proof booze you can store in a blending tank, without having sprinklers. In a building with sprinklers that number is significantly larger. At our place, we are sprinklered and have 2 500gal blending tanks. We keep the tanks sealed when they are sitting and waiting to be bottled. No evaporation if tank is sealed tight
  23. we've used a corn base and had no issues with clouding as long as you proof with RO water
