  1. Below is a link to a video walk-around of the equipment. Please disregard the portion about the finishing still as it has already been sold. The 2 tanks listed in this ad are shown in the video. I also have all of the other tanks and tubing to put the still back together. I would be willing to let the entire setup go for $12,000 if you would be interested. Our only reason for getting rid of it is because our new (larger) mash tun finally came in. Please let me know if you have any questions! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1supbYToj38dlNNUVFWYktoWUE Thanks, Adam
  2. Both still available. Open to reasonable offers on each.
  3. Hey Josh. Just sent over a video walk around. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  6. Here's a little gem we found on ebay. Made an offer for $2k and they accepted....I think this one was on there for close to a year. Based on the tags, it may have been used to sift phosphorus at a Kodak plant??? Anyway, we had to get a new screen made for it that ran us about $30. We have since mounted it on top of a new tank and it works like a charm. In the whole setup for about $2,500. Some of the best money we've spent since we're on septic.
  7. We currently mash in our fermenter, but do it in a bit of a different way. We have a combo vessel where we mash, ferment, and do our stripping run. We actually have the system up for sale right now because we are increasing capacity. It works like a charm and we are doing about 500-525 gallons per batch through it. Here is a link to the sale ad if you are interested: Thanks, Adam
  8. Interested in the custom metal craft transfer tanks and the alcohol tester. Can you please email me your contact info to adam.stumpf at stumpysspirits dot com? Thanks, Adam
  9. Depends on how high of an alcohol content you want your wash to have. This is always a nice reference if you are trying to build a recipe from scratch: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/calculator/ If you are going to shoot for a 10-12% wash, I'd guess that you are going to be in the neighborhood of 1,750-2,000 pounds, depending on what kind of efficiency you are expecting. Please keep in mind that there are may variables in the above assumptions....other things you are going to want to think about are yeast attenuation, grist profile/size, enzymes or malt only, will you cereal mash, etc.. Cheers and good luck! Adam
  10. We see that when we do an all corn mash. Depending on the variety of corn, we see some with more and some with less. If the kernels are a little darker down toward the tip, it seems to be more. Not sure exactly what it is, but I'd say "corn oil" is a good bet. Everything seems to ferment and distill out just fine.
  11. Hi All, We are doing our first formal business plan with one of our distributors. Below are the basic topics that I think should be included and addressed. The problem is, I don't know what I don't know! For those of you that have worked on these business plans with your distributors, what topics am I missing? Roll out Incentive Period Specs Monthly Case Goals Monthly Account Goals Menu Placement Goals Shared Expenses Marketing & Advertising Programs Cheers! Adam
  12. Hi Marisa, We are considering a continuous still for the next portion of our expansion. How do I learn more about what you guys are offering? Please feel free to PM me! Thank You, Adam
  13. Like Lassiter, we are using Hoochware. We couldn't be happier. We do everything in it....from purchasing raw ingredients to production tracking to TTB reporting to fulfilling distributor orders. Production planning and forecasting are made easy with a couple of consumption and cost based reports. We've been running and planning on it since May and absolutely love it. I know there are a few more reports in the works right now that are really going to be killer. If you ever have any questions give them a call. Shawn is probably the most customer-focused individual I have ever met in my life. Give his team a shout and I'm sure they can help you out! Adam
  14. I believe I saw Pilot Malt House in MI with malted corn at one point. You might give them a try.
  15. I have 18 brand new 15 gallon Missouri Oak barrels from McGinnis Wood Products in Cuba, MO for sale. Char 3 and Char 4 available. $200 per barrel. F.O.B. Columbia, Illinois. Please contact adam.stumpf(at)stumpysspirits(dot)com for more info. Thanks!
  16. What temp did you ferment at, how many hours did you ferment, and did you agitate during fermentation? If you did agitate, was it vigorously? Thinking maybe fermentation temp got a little hot? We have noticed that in the past.
  17. 30 days is pretty common. Usually, distributors are paid COD by retailers. Distribs are going to have to carry some of your inventory for a period of time...we are finding 30-60 days to be common on that end. We haven't had a whole lot of interest in distribs wanting to do 15 days because of their inventory levels. As long as their sales cover their payables to you, you should be good to go. This is just our experience so far. I'm sure many others are having success at negotiating terms lower than 30 days.
  18. Just bought this reconditioned paddle conveyor last week and found out it is going to be a little to short for my needs. It can be used on any angle from 0-90 (horizontal to vertical) and has a 5" auger at the bottom that feeds it. The drive pulley is at the top (no motor included). Conveyor is made of rubber paddles attached to chain. That same chain also drives the feed auger at the bottom. 10' overall height with a 9'6" discharge. Everything turns free by hand. $250 OBO. Please feel free to email adam.stumpf@stumpysspirits (dot) com for more information. Thanks,Adam
  19. Hi 3 Stacks, Our corn is currently not GMO free. We are working some GMO free varieties into our next rotation but have to find the right spot. A breezy day in the middle of July can quickly turn a non-GMO field into a GMO field if your neighbor has a GMO variety out! To answer your follow-up question, the last number I read was that non-GMO varieties constituted around 5% of the United States' annual corn output. That being the case, non-GMO corn can be pretty tough to come by, based on where you are located. I believe around the same time I read the non-GMO figure, I also read that almost all of the big Kentucky distilleries had switched exclusively to GMO corn because of lack of availability/price of non-GMO.
  20. I'll have a drink to that! I was recently asked what is the biggest lesson I've learned so far....after a long pause, my answer was, "To learn how to temper expectations." I was once told a rule of thumb by an old liquor industry member and thought it was just him trying to discourage new entrants....so I kind of shrugged it off, but boy, do those words ring true today! He said, "If you can cut your sales by 4, double your timeline, triple your estimated costs and still make your business plan work then go for it, otherwise, I'd think twice." To answer your question, we are just over a year out of the gate and fairly happy with our results so far. We are at least able to keep the doors open and lights on! That being said, the thing that boggles my mind is the cash flow issue. My wife and I are bootstrapping this thing ourselves so it is sooooooo hard to watch barreled whiskey sit there and do its thing....It's like shoveling a pile of money in the corner and TRYING to forget about it for a few years! And not sample those barrels dry! :P Just my $0.02 for the morning...now time to go look for more coffee and bottle some booze!
