  1. How do you handle this for pontica? "Provide information from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) showing the ingredient(s) is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for use in alcohol beverages. The information should include the GRAS notification number."
  2. @ebstauffer, I have it growing too in my garden... at least what I think is pontica. I'd appreciate a start too just to verify what I have. I'll PM my address.
  3. Nice! Any worries about not having easy access to the shell to ensure proper cleaning?
  4. Beautiful! Only negative I see is the manways look time consuming to open?
  5. I've seen 2" butterfly valves get clogged so all my 2" ports enlarge to a 3" valve. You can pump through 1" but a 1" drain will get stuck at some point.
  6. I run 2" inside 3" tube in tube with a lobe pump. I think anything smaller than 1.5" might be problematic.

  8. The latent heat will have evaporated most of the alcohol/liquid out of the botanicals by the next day. Try checking them immediately after the still stops dripping.
  9. Why is using extra water during distillation spirit runs better than a higher than 180 proof? Both will do the same -- remove flavor.
  10. I don't think its quite that simple though. That last 5% (tails) presumably has less value than the preceding hearts. Is there anything of value at all?
  11. When are you paying federal tax for product sitting in a distributor's warehouse?
  12. I've seen 750ml bottles with whole fruit and bottles bigger than 750ml that looks like they were filled with 750ml of spirit and then topped off with fruit. I'll reach out to Catoctin Creek but I'd think there should be something published on this.
  13. I'm curious to know if using a bottle greater than 750 ml is an option. Fill it with 750 ml of X ABV spirits and then top it off with fruit. Anyone know?
  14. If you want to sell a product that has whole fruit in it, how do you handle labeling concerning volume and ABV (ABV I imagine would slightly decrease over time)? How do you handle taxes paid on those bottles - as they're individually removed from your bonded area for instance? Edit: And additional formula approval I presume?
  15. " Lubrication This pump can only be used for pumping oily liquids. It cannot be used for liquids that are non-lubricating or the gears in the pump will lock up and corrode." Is this a legit problem?
  16. That I do have (pneumatic diaphragm) but it's 1/2" npt in/out. Again I wonder if it's too small.
