  1. Good morning everyone! I have a ton of hard red wheat that was grown for me by a local farmer/friend/neighbor that I will not be able to get through and would like to offer it up to other craft distillers. I don't have the exact variety in my memory (I can certainly get it if that's important to you) but the value of this wheat is that it is lower in protein (i.e. less foaming issues) than standard wheat that is sold on the market. It tested at 10.2% protein when we harvested, can/will test again for verification. This is in comparison to 14% protein which is what farmers target to not be penalized by elevators/mills. The wheat will be brought to the elevator to be cleaned prior to shipping. Pricing would be as follows: $0.18/lb - supersacks FOB Grand Forks, ND $0.22/lb - 50lb bags FOB Grand Forks, ND Wheat will be available to ship early/mid June. I am willing to deliver if within a reasonable distance, otherwise I can/will arrange freight and add that cost to the total. Also should mention for those who it might want/need to know this wheat was grown in Minnesota. For questions or to place an order you can PM here or email at tyler.seim@redpinedistillery.com Thanks!
  2. Never been used before Flow-Scales. Bought back in 2016 and was never installed. This system consists of 3x Flow-Scales and can be used in association with a chain disk system, or any other type of grain feeding system. The purpose of the Flowscale is to accurately measure the weight of the desired grain. With the 3 you can set up a distinct scenario where you had 3 different varieties of grain to measure. FLOW SALES x3 (BAG STAND METERING) -5" FlowScale, Continuous Flow Weigh Auger, (Flow Rate 400-5500#/hr) -Proximity Sensor for inlet hopper and/or discharge plenum -Hopper Top for Continuous-Flow Unit; 4" inlet -Tube magnet for Hopper-Top -Discharge Plenum for Single FlowScale Unit -Set of 4 Legs for FlowScale Unit -Discharge Chute for Horizontal Gathering Auger (FOR 2.375" CHAIN DISK)1.5 58.00 87.00 -5" Continuous Flow FEEDPRO Ingredient Unit w/ all Necessary Options Asking price is $3000. each - Could consider an OBO with purchase of all 3 Flow scales. 3. please review bottom of post! Reference Doc below https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=TTB-2018-0007-0001 Notice No. 176: Modernization of the Labeling and Advertising Regulations for Wine, Distilled Spirits, and Malt Beverages 1. Subpart A—General Provisions Proposed subpart A includes several sections that have general applicability to part 5, including a revised definitions section, a section that defines the territorial extent of the regulations, sections that set forth to whom and to which products the regulations in part 5 apply, a section that identifies other regulations that relate to part 5, and sections addressing administrative items such as forms and delegations of the Administrator. Proposed § 5.1, which provides definitions of terms used in part 5, has some changes from the regulatory text that appears in current § 5.10. In addition to the proposed amendments discussed above in section II B of this document, TTB proposes to modify the definition of “age” to simplify it and to make clear that spirits are only aged when stored in or with oak. The wood contact creates chemical changes in the spirits, which is the aging process. Thus, for example, spirits stored in oak barrels lined with paraffin are not “aged.” Additionally, TTB proposes to add a definition of “American proof,” which cross references the definition of “proof.” The term “American proof” is used in some circumstances to clarify that the proof listed on a certificate should be calculated using the standards in the part 5 regulations, not under another country's standards. TTB proposes to amend the definition of “distilled spirits” to codify its longstanding position that products containing less than 0.5 percent alcohol by volume are not regulated as “distilled spirits” under the FAA Act. TTB also proposes to add a definition of “grain,” which would define the term to include cereal grains as well as the seeds of the pseudocereal grains: amaranth, buckwheat, and quinoa. TTB has received a number of applications for labels for products using pseudocereals, and TTB also notes that the FDA has proposed draft guidance allowing the seeds of pseudocereals to be identified as “whole grains” on labels (see 71 FR 8597, February 17, 2006). Finally, TTB proposes to define the term “oak barrel,” which is used with regard to the storage of certain bulk spirits. TTB and its predecessor agencies have traditionally considered a “new oak container,” as used in the current regulations, to refer to a standard whiskey barrel of approximately 50 gallons capacity. Accordingly, TTB proposes to define an oak barrel as a “cylindrical oak drum of approximately 50 gallons capacity used to age bulk spirits.” However, TTB seeks comment on whether smaller barrels or non-cylindrical shaped barrels should be acceptable for storing distilled spirits where the standard of identity requires storage in oak barrels.
  4. I was wondering if anyone had some experience with distilling and mashing with 100% flaked grains. I'm trying to use a 100% flaked bill for ease of use but keep running into a thick pourage that I can't seem to process. Below is the procedure and ratios I'm using but getting stuck and hoping someone might be able to provide some insight... I'm mashing for Distilling. 30 pounds of grain – 100% flaked wheat .375 gallons water per pound of grain (1.5 qt / pound) Bring water to 142 and pH correct to 5.0 with citric acid Mix in BioGlucanase GP – about 4ml worth Mix in Grain Check temp, should be 135-142 and held in that range Hydrate grain for 35min stir every 5-10 min; stir constant if having to bring temp up at all - done once (used direct steam injection for heating up) Bring temperature up to 150 Stir in Amoly 300 - 22ml Maintain temp at 145-155; stir constant if having to bring temp up at all Stir every 15 min and cook for 90min So in this test run when I was bringing up the temp for the Amoly I was stirring constantly and it really starting taking a turn for thick pourage at this point I'd prefer to stick with a 100% flaked grain bill if possible..
  5. *****Edit: Thank you for your interest! I have found a new position.

  7. On very important piece of equipment is a quality grain mill. This is a perfect mill for any operation. It is a CS Bell #2 with a new 7hp motor. 208/230 single phase. I have all screens from course to powder. The blower will move the grind to a separate location, like milling outside and dumping directly into the mash tun. Less work, more efficient. Works perfect and will last many, many years, the bearings are greaseable and all hammers are in place. $1200, FOB
  8. Hello from Maryland! We grow and supply grain to distilleries in MD. This is a certified organic farm growing corn, wheat and rye. We can mill any grain we grow. Currently selling wheat and Bloody Butcher corn. 2018 crops will include Red Fife Wheat, Brasetto Rye and these corn varieties: Boone County White, Bloody Butcher, Hickory King, Krug and Wapsie Valley. For the popcorn addicts we'll have Tom Thumb popcorn.
  9. Looking for any helpful tips or DIY equipment to separate liquid from a corn & malt mash. We have been doing this by hand using filter bags at about 3 gallons at a time but this is very inefficient and doesn't always work when doing a 50 gallon wash. Saw that King's County uses a machine that does solid/liquid separation very well but it costs about $25K, so that's not going to happen. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
  10. We have an overstock of high quality 2 row malting barley available. Asking $0.12/lb in totes. Volume discounts available. Also have malt and other grain as well. Please contact mike at pilotmalthouse.com Thanks!
  11. Just bought this reconditioned paddle conveyor last week and found out it is going to be a little to short for my needs. It can be used on any angle from 0-90 (horizontal to vertical) and has a 5" auger at the bottom that feeds it. The drive pulley is at the top (no motor included). Conveyor is made of rubber paddles attached to chain. That same chain also drives the feed auger at the bottom. 10' overall height with a 9'6" discharge. Everything turns free by hand. $250 OBO. Please feel free to email adam.stumpf@stumpysspirits (dot) com for more information. Thanks,Adam
  12. For sale is a grain/general weight scale/cart. This scale was purchased 2 months ago on a whim and we now have realized that we don't need a 2nd scale. The scale model # is EQM-400/800 which is the 800lb capacity model with an accuracy of .2lbs. It works great for weighing grains/other items around the distillery and is certified NTEP legal for trade. The wheels on the cart make it versatile. Item works like new and was used ~10 times. I screwed a plate to the back of it to hold items more easily (can be removed if not desired). Paid $519.00...asking $350.00obo Below is a link to the manufacturers website and attached is a spec sheet. Email Jon @ jon@gddistilling.com for more information or offers. Item is available in Kalamazoo, MI for pickup or shipping (not included in price). Thanks for looking. http://www.tor-rey-electronics.com/receiving-scale-EQM/EQM.php Spec Sheet.pdf Images.pdf

  15. We are selling our trusty bucket elevator. It works perfectly, just changing our setup a bit. Moving to a bin/auger system so no longer have use for the elevator. -On wheels -Approx 9' discharge height. -Currently has 208V 3 phase motor but I can switch it out to single phase if you would like. -Can move a big volume of grain in a short period of time. $2,000 OR BEST OFFER Please reply, PM, or email adam.stumpf@stumpysspirits (dot) com for more info.

  17. Hello guys and girls, I was wondering how you seperate your wheat grains after mashing from your wort? We tried a sieve plate but it kept cloging up and was dead slow. Tried replacing half the malted wheat with malted barley but that wasn't giving us the flavour profile we were looking for. Tried rice hulls but they are quiet expensive over here. Any good ideas exept a liquid solid seperator? Cheers!
  18. Many people on this forum have expressed an interest in centrifugal sifters for the dewatering applications that are common in the distilling industry. Kason Centri-Sifters work very well for these applications. Kason will be exhibiting our Centri-Sifters at the upcoming International Powder & Bulk Solids Show at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. The show runs May 3rd through 5th. This is a great opportunity to see the equipment in person. My application engineering colleagues and I will be available to answer questions and discuss your individual needs as well. I have free passes to the show available for those who are interested. Please send me a message/email or give me a call if you are interested in attending. Please visit us at Booth #2107. 19. The 2015 Craft Distilling Expo provided a focus for one of the UK’s fastest growing markets. Visitors discovered new trends, technologies and tastes, as well as the progress and scope for development in a fertile industry. As the industry has grown, the main focus has been on production techniques and flavour trends. However, one subject that has been neglected is how to efficiently process waste material. Drawing on 80 years of experience in separation technology, Russell Finex have engineered the Russell Liquid Solid Separator™. The perfect solution to processing spent grain and mash, this innovative machine is drawing attention from those looking to optimise this important part of their process. "This is a complete game changer for the industry. It's a highly effective separator for handling spent grains. It's a must have for every distillery wanting to improve profitability." - Bill Owens, Founder & President of the American Distilling Institute comments on the Russell Liquid Solid Separator™. Find out more about new developments in the craft distilling industry at Craft Distillers Expo review or watch a video of Russell Liquid Solid Separator processing spent distillers grains.
  20. Hey Gang, Starting to put my head around the most efficient way to process my corn. Can save as much as $0.35/lb if I grind it myself... Questions: Best place to shop for one? Any brands or models to look for/ stay away from? Thanks in Advance! K J Wood Distillers. John
  21. Hello, we had been experimenting with a recipe on a small scale and bumped it to large for production and it did not turn out so we have an excess of grain here we are not using. I would say we have roughly 750 pounds of red wheat in a large super tote and we have 1600 pounds of malted barley, that is bagged in 50 pound sacks, which is 32 sacks. We would like to get rid of it, and would sell it off at .30 cents a pound. Serious inquiries only, for more information contact kbcdistillingcompany@gmail.com.
  22. Good Morning, We have a Grain Cooker that we bought and used 2 times for a special recipe that didnt work out so we are trying to get rid of it. We paid $15,000 for it but would like to at least get $12,500 out of it. It is 325 gallons, powered with electric units. Has a grate to keep grain from settling on bottom. Outlet above grate is 2 inch and below grate is 3 inch. Stainless still built with cypress wood on outside, which could be removed if needed. Has a thermometer, we have a mixer for it that we bought separate but would give with it to get rid of it. I tried attaching some pictures here but the file size was too large. If you would like to contact me about the cooker, my email is kbcdistillingcompany@gmail.com and I can give you more information and pictures.
  23. 24. Fairly sure this is a long shot, but I'm hoping there are some ground to glass growers around here. We live in Northwestern Pennsylvania and are looking for some hard red winter wheat seed. It's almost time for planting, and none of the local places carry it or order it in. We would like to do around 3 acres as a trial run. (3 bushels to an acre is about right?) 5 acres worth would be great if the price was good.(We would also be interested in barley seed as well.) Being able to grow our own has a number of benefits to our plan. I have found some sources from the midwest that I can order from, but was hoping to find someone in the Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania type regions. We would gladly drive to pick it up if it's within a reasonable radius. Thanks! Jessica
  25. Good morning, We have a bottom dumping grain hopper for sale. Fork-lift pick points, 45x48x48....great for mashing in, conveying stillage (cooled), and other tasks in a distillery. We used it for mashing in separate grains as needed. We upgraded our grain handling a while back and just don't have a need for this any longer. If you're interested, photos and pricing - http://butte.craigslist.org/grd/4916940034.html. Best, John
